Stavritsa Orfanelli b. 1914, Aivali. In 1915-1916, during the first expulsion, her mother and she were taken to Smyrna and from there to Attalia. They returned to Aivali in 1919. In September 1922, she and her family were transported by a British vessel outside Lesvos to Greek waters. Then, a Greek ship brought them to shores of Thermi. She lives in Thermi. Vassiliki Maragou-Ralli b. January, 1923. Thermi, Lesvos. Her parents were Nikolaos Marangos and Angeliki Galisiotou. Her father was captured by the Turkish authorities on September 14 1922, in Aivali, and her mother, who was by that time five months pregnant to her, came alone to Thermi. Maria Sarandinou b. 1917. Pamfila, Lesvos, where her family was after they left Aivali during the first expulsion. Her family went back to Aivali in 1920. Michail Ksenakis b. April 26 1913, Aivali (Kato Hora/ Kato Panagia). During the first expulsion in 1915, he and his family went to Pirgoi Thermis, Lesvos. In 1919, after the occupation of Asia Minor by the Greek Army, the Xenakis family went back to their farm in Kerem Koy (in the town of Giomets) near Aivali. In September 1922, the family left with a foreign vessel to Lesvos, first to Perama, Gera, and then to Pyrgoi Thermis. He lives in Thermi, Lesvos. Interviewed:Thermi, 02/08/02 |
